    ABOUT

Products Used

We use ONLY La Blanc linen wash*. La Blanc, is specially formulated for the care of fine linens and is recommended by the manufacturers of fine linens made worldwide. It is an eco-friendly organic, plant based wash, contains no optical brighteners or harsh chemicals and is not tested on animals.

We currently carry the La Blanc line of linen wash in original, un-scented, Lavender Lady and Summer Verbena. We also utilize old-fashioned methods for pre-soaking and stain removal recommended by the Smithsonian Institute for the care of antique and heirloom linens. We do not use bleach, drycleaner solvents or any other harsh chemicals on your items so you know your linens are in good hands!

Scented linen sprays and light starch can be applied after pressing in the machine and then hand ironed in the finishing touch up stage. We have several clients who currently enjoy this complimentary add on service at no extra charge. So let us know and we will keep it in stock, especially for your items.

We have implemented top of the line, state of the art, brand new appliances from Unimac** that utilize overdry protection technology. Your linens are then removed from the drier with just the right amount of moisture to ensure your sheets are pressed perfectly.

About Rachael

Originally a teacher from New Zealand, owner/operator, Rachael Stroker came out to Colorado for a working vacation in 2001 and has lived here ever since!

Six years in hospitality working for Ritz-Carlton hotel company in Bachelor Gulch taught Rachael how to provide above and beyond, exceptional personal customer service. Where focus on every detail and anticipation of the guests needs is tantamount.

Following her tenure with Ritz-Carlton, Rachael established her own property management company.  The Home Nanny LLC provides a boutique style of property management/caretaking and concierge service for a handful of high end clients in the Vail area.  Here she started washing and pressing fine linens  for her clients and quickly established an appreciation for a perfectly pressed sheet.

Establishing The Linen Lady of Vail LLC was a natural progression when she recognized the need for a small boutique personalized linen service provider in the Vail Valley. For the past 3 years Rachael hand ironed linens for her clients until recently she set up a laundry facility in Eagle, complete with brand new state of the art commercial appliances and linen press machine.

When she isn’t working Rachael enjoys growing veggies in her garden and exploring the outdoors with her husband Tom, toddler son Elijah and black labrador dog-daughter Kya.

Pricing
Why do we charge a little more than other linen care service providers?

At The Linen Lady of Vail we appreciate the investment you have made in your fine linens and we want to take care of them like they were grandmothers, passed down through the generations. This means to take the extra time to serve one client, one wash load at a time.

We review your linens prior to washing to ascertain if they need special attention prior to laundering. We then review them again when they come out of the washer prior to pressing. If the stain needs further attention then back to the presoak bath it goes.

“The last thing we want is to apply heat to a fresh stain! Often times patience and

a long soak in a diluted oxyclean bath will release the stain by itself”

Rachael, The Linen Lady, has done a wonderful job of not only cleaning tricky linens, but also getting it done when she said, delivering the items in professional packaging and willing to accommodate and go the extra mile.  Her knowledge includes cleaning of many different fabrics, spot removal, ironing and has resources for items that need attention other than cleaning.  She is extremely hard working, very responsible and committed to what she does.  She has researched and invested in many high end appliances that help her to get the job done in a professional manner.  Bottom line, I would hire her again.   C Drake - Beaver Creek and Chicago

Tips

    LINEN CARE TIPS

Stain removal is part science, part patience!

Oil based stains
Oxy Clean
Nosebleeds
Acne medications and toothpaste

Numerous times I have seen expensive pillowcases ruined by acne medications like Proactiv and the whitening agents in todays toothpastes. These products will strip the color right out of your linens. It is recommended that anyone using acne medication use pure white linens only.

If in doubt, treat your linens to a trip at the 'linen spa'; aka the oxy clean pre soak bucket. This color safe* oxygenated bleach product contains no chlorine bleach or optical brighteners. Leave items soaking for a day or two and then wash as normal. Often times the long soak will flush the stain right out by itself.

*always test on a small piece of the fabric first

The dry environment and high altitude here in the mountains leaves us susceptible to nosebleeds while sleeping. I see this on pillowcases all the time. At your first opportunity, pre-soak pillowcases in a mild oxy clean* bath for several days and then wash as normal. Repeat process if necessary. Whink rust remover* also does wonders for removing blood stains from delicate fabrics.

Protect your fabrics when working on stains

To avoid a stain transferring to other parts of the item be sure to lay item flat and protect with an old towel directly underneath the stain and between layers of fabric.

Always use color safe stain pre-treatments and be sure to test them on a discrete location of the fabric prior to working them in to the stain.

Remove oil based stains like make up, sunscreen and lotions from bed linens or oil based food stains from table linens with a dab of Dawn dish detergent prior to placing item in washing machine.

Blanket Care

Always wash blankets and coverlets on a delicate cycle in cold water with extra rinse. To avoid your blankets stretching and losing shape, lay them flat to air dry and gently tug them back in to shape when they are almost dry.
